This week, we lost three figures in contemporary art.

First, we say goodbye to Dick Elliott. A Washington artist who definitely stood out from the crowd. Reading about this painters’ life inspires me. He went after his love, he lived the art life. And died an artist. Now THAT is fierce.

Hunting the Boar, 1995 – By Grace Hartigan

An expressionist painter, Grace Hartigan lived in Los Angeles, and like all artists, she had her personal struggles.

Inspired by Grace, poems where written describing her elegance by her friend Frank O’Hara. This article in the Los Angeles times talks more about her career.

Guy Peellaert was a pop artist who the art world will miss. He was admired by and designed album covers for some of rock’s greatest artists.

This article talks more about his work. Guy was really enjoying a wonderful career as a graphic designer, photographer and painter and we are sad to see him go.
